Neil Wood, born in 1963, is a distinguished British sculptor renowned for his Modernist approach to exploring the human condition through art. He began his formal education in the arts at Rochdale College of Art, obtaining a Foundation Certificate in Art & Design. He then pursued a BA in Fine Art Sculpture from Wimbledon School of Art followed by an MA in Visual Art in Contemporary Culture from Keele University.
Over the past three decades, Wood has balanced his time between creating art and imparting knowledge. He has held various teaching positions, including part-time lecturer roles at Staffordshire University and Stafford College, where he also served as Head of HND Fine Art & Sculpture from 1999 to 2004. His commitment to education extended to roles as an artist-in-residence and visiting lecturer at multiple UK institutions.
Wood's artistic practice is deeply rooted in a Modernist methodology, using the human figure as a medium to experiment with materials and visual language. His work delves into complex themes surrounding human experiences and relationships, often addressing social and political injustices faced by the underprivileged and displaced.
